Sometimes you just need good pizza. And a place to watch a sporting event. When you’re in the mood for one or both of these things, might I suggest you check out Marley’s Chicago Style Pizzeria?
When my husband and I visited Marley’s recently on a Friday evening, we were truly impressed by the number of TVs in the joint. This could only mean one thing: our list of “places to go to watch a football game” had just expanded. So we settled into a tall table, fixated ourselves on a couple different sporting events, and dove into exploring the menu.
We were famished, so we opted for an appetizer. Holy moly, am I ever glad we did! We tried the Skillet Dip Pizza, a concoction of cream cheese and homemade marinara sauce, topped with green peppers and red onions, covered with pepperoni then baked and served fresh with Frito Scoops for dipping. Wowzers! This dip is soooo worth trying! It was nothing short of dip heaven. I love a good dip, and this one did not disappoint!
When it came time for the main course, my husband and I were torn. The menu offers so many mouth-watering options, not to mention the “create-your-own” pizza options. Devon decided he wanted the Italian Rooster, which features grilled chicken, pepperoni, jalapeno peppers and mozzarella cheese with garlic and oil glaze. I, however, wanted something a bit more classic, so I selected the Stagger Lee, topped with pepperoni, italian sausage, black olives (though I opted out of these!), and jalapenos with mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce.
Fortunately for us, the waitress was happy to “go halfsies” on our pizza (yes, I just made that up) so we didn’t have to order two separate pizzas. The menu warns that the Chicago-style pizzas take a 30-35 bake time, but the wait didn’t seem bad at all, especially since we had the earth-shattering pizza dip to snack on. When the pizza arrived, we had nothing but good things to say about it. Being deep dish, it was extremely filling, and I’m pretty sure we only ate about 2 pieces each and took the remainder to go.
Marley’s offers an extensive food and drink menu, which I’m excited to explore further on our next visit. One item that has captured my curiousity is the “Ring of Fire” pizza, featuring pepperoni, jalapenos, habaneros & GHOST PEPPERS on top of a chili pepper-infused marinara pizza with mozzarella cheese. If any of you readers out there have eaten this pizza, please leave a comment to reassure me that you survived this experience. I’m pretty sure ghost peppers are the spiciest thing in the universe.
Marley’s also offers Daily Special and a Happy Hour every Monday-Friday. Click here to find out all the details.
